HAYES & YEADING are expected to unveil Nike Academy student Tobi Amokeodo as their first summer signing on Friday.

The 19-year-old is expected to put pen to paper on a deal with United on Friday as the club starts to build a new squad for the Blue Square South.

Amokeodo, who has previously had spells at Stevenage and AFC Hornchurch, was targeted by United last season but was unable to commit due to his studies at Loughborough University.

However, the teenager is now ready to sign up with Nas Bashir’s men and will become the first of a raft of players to arrive at Kingfield in the coming weeks.

Assistant manager Tristan Lewis said: “Myself and Nas were very impressed with Tobi in the trial game we hosted. He’s very quick, very direct, and what we were missing last year.

“Nas tried to get him last year but we couldn’t sort anything out because of his studies. There were a few pro clubs after him so we’re very happy to have gotten him. It should be done on Friday.”

The powerful striker comes in as a replacement for Tom Collins , who is expected to leave United during the transfer window, and Lewis believes Amokeodo has plenty to offer up front.

He added: “He’s much stronger than Tom. I know Tom is direct but Tobi is much more of a goal threat, as opposed to Tom who is more of an ‘off-the-cuff’ sort of player really. Tobi is very much a hustle and bustle centre forward and I certainly wouldn’t want to play at centre-half against him.

“If you crossed Julian Owusu and Tom Collins together, you’d probably end up with Tobi. He’s not massive but he’s quick and if we can improve his link-up play we’ll have a very good player on our hands.”

Collins is yet to leave United, although he could still be playing his football at Kingfield next season as Woking are understood to have put an offer on the table for the forward.

One player who definitely won’t be appearing in Woking next season is goalkeeper Steve Arnold , who last week signed for League One outfit Stevenage.
