LIAM Colbon has told London Broncos fans to expect steel and determination in equal measure from new signing Scott Wheelden.
Broncos signed the 26 year old prop on loan from Hull Kingston Rovers for the rest of the season last week after releasing Jarrad Hickey from his contract.
Summer signing Hickey had become the victim of an administration error which saw the club sign too many overseas players, and attempts to find him another club have been unsuccessful.
Following Hickey's release, Wheelden (pictured) has become the third player to join Broncos from Hull KR this campaign, following in the footsteps of Colbon and Matt Cook.
Colbon said: “I am good friends with Scott and it's good to be reunited. We signed for Hull KR from Hull FC at the same time, and he will be living with me down here.
“Along with Cooky, we are all good mates, and as well as having that familiarity off the pitch helping you settle, it's an advantage on the pitch too when you have a few players around you who know each other's games inside out.
“Scott will add a lot of steel to us, especially in the front row, and will bring some big game experience too. Prop is a position we have been weak in since Jarrad's registration fell through.”
It may be a while, however, before Colbon gets to join his pal on the pitch, having dislocated his shoulder at Leeds on Easter Monday.
He went under the knife last Wednesday and could face anything from three to six months on the sidelines, depending on how well his rehab goes and how well his body heals.
Colbon added: “I remember going down on my shoulder after a tackle, then two more players fell on top of me and it just popped out. It's been so frustrating getting a long-term injury so soon after joining the club.”
