PINNER teenager Erin Nabney is celebrating after being called up to the British swimming team for their trip to Poland later this year.

The 15-year-old is one of 24 elite junior swimmers who have have been selected to compete for Team GB at the 2013 European Junior Championships in Poznan this July.

Nabney (pictured) was called up following her dazzling performance at the British International Open in Leeds earlier this month.

A fantastic performance in her strongest event, the 200m Individual Medley, produced a stunning swim to break both the London Region and Middlesex County junior records.

Her time of 2.18.83 to put herself firmly in the mix of contenders for a seat on the plane to Poland and the postman delivered confirmation of the good news last Wednesday.

Mark Perry, Interim Technical Lead for British Swimming, said: “The European Junior Championships is one of the target meets on the Podium Potential Programme and this year we have adopted a tough selection policy.

“This year we are taking a smaller, more medal-focused group who we believe have the potential to make the team for Rio 2016 and beyond.”

Taking place between July 10-14, the European Junior Championships has long been the benchmark meet on the elite junior programme at British Swimming.
