BRITISH number one Andy Murray booked his place in the third round of the AEGON Championships with a straight-sets victory over Andreas Seppi.

The Scot eased past the Italian with a 6-1, 6-4 victory to set up a meeting with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

However, Gael Monfils was the first big-name casualty as he was forced to retire from his clash with Steve Darcis.

And fifth seed Marin Cilic was the next to fall when he lost 7-6, 7-6 to France's Nicolas Mahut.

Elsewhere, Lleyton Hewitt came from a set down to see off Frederico Gil, and faces American Andy Roddick in round three.
