MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE
Crouch End 99 all out
MTSSC won by 78 runs
A TOP of the table clash saw MTSSC leapfrog Crouch End into first place in Middlesex Championship's Division One.
A margin of 78 runs ensured a victory for the visitors and put them level on points with their closest rivals.
That did not appear likely at the start however as Crouch End gained an advantage from winning the toss and putting MTSSC into bat under bowling conditions.
The batsmen found it difficult to cope under these conditions and the home team were able to reduce their opponents to 52-4 as a result.
Undeterred the MTSSC pair of Mustafa Bhagat and Sharu Yoganathan added 32 runs before Bhagat was caught at long-on in an attempt to improve the run-rate.
Yoganthan's patient play paid off as he went on to score almost a half-century (46) before he too was caught in similar fashion.
Kavi Kannathasan's introduction enabled MTSSC to end their innings on a respectable 178 for 9 after his blistering knock quickly took him to 40.
MTSSC produced a devastating performance with the ball to secure the victory.
David Devadoss ran the show, taking a sensational seven wickets to sink the home side, ably supported by Hammad Bukhari.
Meanwhile, MTSSC's seconds had less luck against the same opposition, as they slumped to a five-wicket defeat at the weekend.
