SIMON Moore wants to establish himself as Brentford's number one after keeping his third clean sheet in four games against Exeter on Tuesday night.

Presented with a chance after first-choice Richard Lee fell ill, youngster Moore has grabbed the opportunity with both hands to leave Lee kicking his heels on the sidelines.

The 21-year-old was given a new contract by boss Uwe Rosler earlier in the season, and he insists he wants to repay his manager for showing faith in him.

He said: “When I first came to the club my aim was to be number one. I knew I would have to be patient and wait for my chance, but I want to be first-choice, whether that's now or next season.

“A lot of managers look at young keepers and go with experience instead, but the gaffer's put faith in me and I'm very grateful.

“Rich is such a good keeper and I know he's breathing down my neck. We've got a great goalkeeping union at the club and we bounce off each other.

“I'm delighted to be playing and if I'm put in again I'll continue to work hard and try and keep clean sheets.”
