There were mixed results at the 2015 Q-School for Harrow based darts player John Scott.

The first four days amongst the 400+ field of darting hopefuls saw him reach the last 32 on one occasion, but not get past the last 128 on any of the others, despite some signs of good form.

It was in the European Tour qualifiers that Scott showed his quality though, winning through one and only losing out in the final of the second tournament.

The first qualifying event was for the German Darts Championship, and his first round match saw him defeat Matt Padgett 6-3 before victories against world number 22 Kevin Painter 6-3 and former world number nine Mark Walsh 6-5 saw him reach the main event.

In the second qualifying event, for the Gibraltar Darts Trophy, Scott took wins against Tony Richardson 6-2 and Scotland International Ewan Hyslop 6-5, before his run finally came to an end against Nathan Derry in the final.

The European Tour event formats have changed slightly since Scott qualified for events in 2012 and 2013, with 32 qualifiers, which come from three seeded qualifying tournaments, of which one is played in the UK, one in Europe and one in the home nation of the main event.

These join the top 16 players in the PDC rankings to make a field of 48, and the 32 qualifiers play round one against each other, leaving 16 to join the 16 seeds, which is then played down to a winner.

Scott will be playing in Germany on Friday, February 13, where he will face one of the other qualifiers in round one, although the draw is not done until the night before the tournament, when the home nation based qualifying event is also held.

The event will be streamed live on the internet. Scott will abe wearing a new sponsor patch in Germany, having signed a one year deal with darts manufacturing company L-Style.
