MICHAEL Mancienne is wanted by AC Milan - but Carlo Ancelotti is not so sure that he wants to farm the defender out on loan for a year after seeing him in action on the USA tour.
Mancienne, right, who has spent recent seasons on loan at QPR and Wolves, put in an impressive performance at right-back in the last game of Chelsea's trip across the Atlantic against Club America.
And Milan took advantage of discussions over Chelsea's interest in Andrea Pirlo to log their interest. They have an ageing squad and might consider a swap for Pirlo.
But Ancelotti may be the one having second thoughts and the experienced Ricardo Carvalho has expressed his admiration for the 21-year-old Mancienne.
Carvalho, who was skipper for the day against Club America, was moved to say that both Blues young player of the year Mancienne and Sam Hutchinson showed 'quality' in the 2-0 win, but tipped the former Rangers loan star to excel in central defence rather than at full-back.
Mancienne also came on as a second half sub in both matches against the Milan giants during Chelsea's run of four wins out of four and he is starting to earn sound reviews.
But, although he played in the England U21 side which reached this summer's Euro finals, and featured for the Blues against Juventus in the Champions League last season, he has only made six appearances so far for his club.
