ENGLAND manager Martin won't be then only Johnson leading his team into battle against the French on Saturday.

Just a few hours after England take on France in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final, Rob Johnson and his Bedfont Sports troops will face up to London French in a Middlesex Merit Table Division Six clash.

The Bedfont boss (centre of pic) said: “It's quite ironic really, and we're hoping to make it an English double against the French. But to be honest. I'm more confident of us winning than England!”

Bedfont go into the game on the back of earning their historic first ever league victory last Saturday.

In only their second ever league game, the fledgling club made the short journey across the borough to Chiswick IVs, but needed three late tries to be sure of victory.

Rob Kimber bagged two of the tries, while Graham Sharkey notched one, and man of the match Matthew Roderick the other on his debut.

John Kelly and Charlie Morris each added a conversion too for Bedfont, who moved up to fourth in the table with the victory.

Johnson added: “We took the lead inside five minutes and must of thought it was going to be easy, but it proved to be a hard game, and it took three tries in the last 20 minutes for us to win it.”
