DEREK McInnes has confirmed he has spoken to Brentford about the vacant managerial post at Griffin Park.

The Bees made an approach for the St Johnstone's boss over the weekend in a bid to find a long-term successor following Andy Scott's departure in February.

McInnes has guided the club to promotion to the SPL since taking over at McDiarmid Park in 2007, but the 39-year-old has refused to discuss the possibility of a switch south of the border.

He said: "I can confirm that I have spoken to Brentford. But that's all I am going to say about the matter at the moment."
