ISLEWORTH & Syon School First XI was given a batting master class in their annual fixture against the MCC last Wednesday.

After a promising start, with both Daniel Thorndyke and Hussain Qazalbash passing the outside edge, the MCC began to take control, with the Isleworth fielding well below par. The MCC declared on 252-1, with six catches dropped by the Isleworth students.

In reply, an opening partnership of 50 between year 10 student Sanjit Sandju and year 11 student Elliot Bennet provided an excellent start to their innings.

Qazalbash hit his first delivery for six in a quick-fire 36, and as the wickets began to fall, year 10 student Nabeel Awan showed his promise by batting for just over an hour for 14 runs.

Isleworth's innings ended on 151 all out, but 10 of the 11 players will be available for next year's fixture, with a year's more experience under their belts.
