FA Cup extra preliminary round
Enfield 1893 0
London Tigers 0
A match that promised much ended up offering very little as Enfield 1893 and London Tigers played out a relatively underwhelming goalless draw on Friday night.
Despite it being an extra preliminary round game for the oldest and greatest cup competition in the world, neither team looked especially up for taking the game to the opposition, with very few clear cut chances throughout.
Enfield peppered the goal early on, with John Bricknell going close, and Billy Sendall forcing a fine save from Tiger's 'keeper Jamie Adim following a free kick from the left.
The home side were marginally the better team in the first half, but Tigers began to edge it in the second period, putting Enfield under plenty of pressure.
Just after the hour mark, Yousef Elterefi had two efforts on goal, firstly with a fierce long rage shot that flew inches wide of the post and again a few minutes later from a similar distance with an identical result.
As the game dragged towards the end, some genuine action finally came about when Enfield had a man sent off. Joe Johnson, who was already on a yellow, left the referee with no choice but to send him off following an extremely clumsy and heavy tackle.
But the game finished in a stalemate and the two sides will now go again at Tigers tomorrow night (Tuesday).
