JEFFREY Schlupp hopes he will get a chance to shine for Brentford against Leyton Orient on Saturday – as he won't get another chance for over a fortnight.
The Bees' new loan signing from Leicester City made his league debut in Tuesday night's defeat to Huddersfield as a late sub for Myles Weston .
The German-Ghanaian striker, who was scouted by Leicester while playing Sunday league football in Milton Keynes, is at Griffin Park for an initial month.
He is open to staying longer, but after then Orient game, he flies out to play two games for Germany U19s, meaning he will miss the home game against Carlisle next Friday, and the trip to Sheffield Wednesday the following Tuesday.
Schlupp returns in time for the JPT Final on April 3, and then has the games against Swindon and Walsall to earn a loan extension before his spell ends on April 14.
And although the transfer window slams shut next week, Brentford can still extend Schlupp's loan after it closes.
Schlupp said: "Leicester told me to go out and get some experience and games under my belt. I've been in the first team squad a few times, but not played.
"I wouldn't mind staying here for the season, but seeing as I won't be available for about two weeks, hopefully I'll get a chance to prove myself on Saturday."
Bees boss Nicky Forster hopes Schlupp will add some muscle to his attack, but having brought him in to fill in while Charlie MacDonald is injured, bemoaned the subsequent loss of Robbie Simpson too this week.
Of Schlupp, Forster added: "Jeffrey is a big lad who chases lost causes and puts himself about.
"But no sooner did we bring him in than we lost Robbie Simpson. One comes in and another gets injured. We were down to just 18 players against Huddersfield."
