LEON Legge has urged Pim Balkestein to stay at Brentford next season.

The pair have built a formidable partnership at the heart of the Bees defence, conceding just five goals in 10 games together, keeping six clean sheets.

But the Dutch defender is only on loan from Ipswich Town until the end of the season, although the Bees have agreed terms with the Tractor Boys to make his move to Griffin Park permanent.

However, they are still waiting for the green light from the 22-year-old, who is keen to stay in the Championship .

But Legge is desperate for him to put pen to paper to continue their rock-solid partnership into next season.

He said: "We've got a good understanding. He's good in the air, strong in the tackle and reads the game really well, and has got all the attributes to be a quality defender.

"I'd love to have him here next year. He would be a great asset, so hopefully he signs."
