WAYNE Carter's last-gasp strike earned Uxbridge a replay in a stormy FA Trophy First Qualifying Round clash with Royston Town on Saturday.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men and Royston looked to have won the game a minute from time before Carter netted seconds before the final whistle to earn his side another bite at the cherry.
Uxbridge had to play the whole of the second period with a man disadvantage when left-back Chris Owens was given a second yellow card for a clumsy tackle on 37 minutes.
The referee would reach for his pocket on a further ten occasions throughout the fiery encounter at Honeycroft.
Royston broke the deadlock after the break when Tom Mallins swept the ball to Ryan Ingrey who struck against the post, however team-mate Matthew Standen was on hand to follow-up into the roof of the net.
While visitor Lee Wilson received treatment for an injury, Uxbridge levelled the scores less than five minutes later through Matty Woods (pictured). A long ball left the opposition defence floundering and allowed Woods to slot the ball inside the post.
The momentum shifted in favour of the hosts when Royston centre-half Joe de la Salle received a second yellow for a misplaced challenge to even up the sides at 10-men each.
With attention turning towards a possible replay, Royston substitute Sam Spencer took advantage of a sloppy clearance and drilled the ball beyond a rooted Matt Elston-Bull from outside the area.
Spencer's late goal looked to have put the visitors through until Carter found Carter found himself one-on-one with a sprawling keeper and struck low into the net in the dying seconds.
