STEVENAGE have beaten Hayes & Yeading to the signing of Steve Arnold.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was released by relegated Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month.

Arnold spent last season on loan at Kingfield and impressed between the sticks for Nas Bashir’s side as he picked up the supporters’ player of the year award.

Bashir held talks with the keeper a few weeks ago about making a permanent move to United following his release from the Chairboys.

However, beaten League One play-off semi-finalists Stevenage have swooped to snap up the free agent.
