CHRISTIAN Jolley insists he has not been deterred by record signing Byron Harrison muscling in on a regular Dons striking spot.

Jolley enjoyed a purple patch in front of goal last October, netting five times in four games as his partnership with Jack Midson started to blossom.

But a combination of a loss of form, injuries, suspension and the January arrival of Harrison from Stevenage disrupted the speed merchant’s season.

Harrison has struggled to find his feet at Kingsmeadow and is yet to register a League Two goal for the club after making 10 appearances so far.

However, Jolley is pleased to be playing alongside the powerful striker and is not worried about who gets the goals to get the Dons climbing back up the table.

“Byron has got different qualities to me and vice versa,” he said. “It’s just a matter of trying to get the shirt, keep the shirt, and perform. When you win you create opportunities for each other and one of us is always going to be there to put them away.

“It’s a matter of trying to counteract the goals going in at the other end and then we can put some points on the board.”

The arrival of the record signing has meant Jolley has spent long spells in wide positions as part of a three-man forward line with the Harrison and Midson.

But Jolley is not concerned with which position boss Terry Brown asks him to play as long as he is getting regular first-team football at the club.

“I have played through the middle quite a lot this season,” he added. “As long as I’m playing I’m happy and I just want us to start winning again. We just need to keep working hard and it will come for us.”
