MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Ickenham 162 all out
Harrow Town 167-7
Ickenham lost by three wickets
OVERSEAS star Josh Thomas stifled Ickenham’s batsmen to set up Harrow Town’s first win of the season in Division Two on Saturday.
Ickenham could not handle the bowling of Thomas as he claimed four wickets to leave the strugglers without a win and bottom of Division Two after four games.
Thomas (4-46) made early inroads before Kamlesh Desai (2-21) and Uzair Mohammed (2-33) restricted Ickenham to just three runs an over.
Michael Olsen (33) hung around for a while but 17-year-old Farhad Hazaburz dismissed him as Town started to make their way through Ickenham’s middle order.
Ananda Iyer (24) and skipper Steve Gibson (27) put on 62 for the sixth wicket before the latter was caught off the bowling from Desai.
Ickenham were 140-6 before Thomas returned for his second spell and his speed was too much for Ickenham’s lower order as they crashed to 162 all out.
The last five wickets were claimed for the loss of just 22 runs. Gibson and Olsen claimed two wickets each but Ickenham could not contain Town’s batsmen as Bhavik Thakkar (49) guided them to victory.
Ickenham will be hoping to pick up their first win of the campaign at home to Harrow St Mary’s this weekend.
Meanwhile, Uxbridge were narrowly defeated by league leaders Brentham as the early Division Two pacesetters recorded an eight-run triumph.
Eastcote remain rooted to the bottom of Division One after they lost by 154 runs at Hornsey.
