West London athletes will be going for glory at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, which gets under way tonight.

But how easy is it to come away with a Commonwealth Record compared to a World Record in the various sports?

We have taken a selection of key events and compared the two records - and if our results are to go by we're more likely to see some tumble in Glasgow.

In each case the World Record was better than the Commonwealth one, with the biggest differences in the field events.

The biggest difference comes in the hammer, where the Commonwealth Record was 11 per cent worse than the world record.

The likes of Serpentine marathon runner Nick Torry and Hammersmith swimmer Amelia Maughan will be hoping to set some new records when the action gets under way as will other west London athletes.
