Brentford 1
Wycombe Wanderers 1

David Hunt scored Brentford's first goal of their pre-season - but it was not enough for victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Griffin Park.

Hunt opened the scoring on 28 minutes with a brilliant free-kick from 30 yards out on the right hand edge of the area, which leaves Nikki Bull clucthing at thin air as it cannons in off the far post.Nicky Forster worked an opening with some sublime skill on the byline moments later, but was denied by Bull.

On 35 minutes, a Michael Spillane belter from the edge of the area, following a brilliant run and cross by Myles Weston, was deflected onto the far post and just wide. But four minutes before half-time, the Brentford back four was left floundering as Kevin Besty burst through to smash home an equaliser.

On 63 minutes, David McCracken amost scored against his old club from a Hunt corner, but a Wycombe defender cleared off the line. A Spillane goal was ruled out for offside soon after.

Spillane then headed another cross from Woodman over, soon after excellent work from Weston had almost created an opening for Forster. With 18 minutes left, Betsy came within inches of his second goal of the game, but headed just wide.

Marcus Bean should have done better with a weak shot from the edge of the area with 11 minutes left following a neat one-two with Weston. Jon-Paul Pitman fired just wide for Wycombe with two minutes left following a good run, and honours finished even.
