Kai-Ern Thompson and George Koutas were the heroes for Junior Eagles Blues as they won the latest Hanwell Community Cup Ball Hockey tournament.
Thompson took the glory, scoring the only goal of the final as Blues defeated Scouts of Ealing to claim the trophy, but goalkeeper Koutas was rightly named star player for the newly crowned champions are not conceding a goal in the entire tournament.
Junior Eagles Blues were worthy winners having won all five of their group games and beaten Junior Eagles Black 1-0 in the semi-final before going on to take the silverware. Junior Eagles Whites took third after beating Blacks 2-1.
The winning squad was George Koutas, Luc Franche, Lydia Sampson, Nick Morrison, Kai-ern Thompson, Jayce Hector and Francis Dickinson.
There were plenty of other accolades given on the day with Alister Rae of Junior Eagles Whites scooping the best attacker honours for, notching six goals and three assists.
Each of the six teams nominated a ‘Top Player,’ ‘Most Sportsmanlike Player’ and ‘Coach’s Player with the following getting the gongs:
Junior Eagles Blues: George Koutas, Luc Franche and Francis Dickinson.
Ealing Scouts: Alfie ward, Oliver Spencer and Ryan Allain.
