THE final duathlon of the season on the Hillingdon Cycle took place on Sunday.

Athletes from across London took part in the senior men's and women's races and a number of children's races, all hosted by Hillingdon Triathletes.

Roger Fowkes of Harefield raced to victory for the local club in the senior men's despite trailing after the two-mile run. But the strong cyclist powered home to cross the line 15 seconds ahead of his nearest challengers.

His team-mate, Mark Edwards, came third.

Hillingdon Triathletes made a clean sweep of all the major prizes with Ian Gould winning the veterans' category, Steve Hyett the super vets' and Sky Draper the women's race after leading from the start (see above).

The remaining Hillingdon team members were Mark Delahunty (6th), Simon Kearns (9th), Marcus Vallance (12th), Peter Berry (14th), Dave Micklewright (20th), Martin Bowd (21st), Nick Wilson (23rd), Jacob Gloor (24th), Ian Leslie (27th), Matthew Williams (28th), Ned Wilkinson (36th), David Beckenham (38th).

In the women's race Vanessa Taylor came fourth while Boo Alder finished in 20th.
