DALE Youth prepared for next week's junior ABA first round contests by producing three convincing performances - but only two wins - against Newham Boys Club on Friday, writes Wally Downes.

Twelve-year-old Richie Heaven (38kg) celebrated a points victory over three rounds against Newham's D Johnson. Heaven dominated the fight from the first bell and controlled it throughout.

Lewis Stanley, 16, won his 54kg clash against an opponent who had lost just once in 10 outings. Stanley travels to the Dale, in Latimer Road, from his Reading home each week and is hopeful his dedication will pay off when he features in next week's ABA championships in Hayes.

Alfie Disson, Dale's final representative, was the victim of a dubious points defeat. Disson, 15, lost his 60kg bout having put up arguably the best display of the three Dale youngsters.
