HAYES & Yeading boss Garry Haylock reckons he is in a no-win situation with hotshot Steve Basham.

The on-loan Luton striker has hit eight for United since he joined in November - and that, ironically, is the problem when Haylock dangles a permanent contract in front of him.

The manager said: "We’d love to have him, and his wages are not totally out of our remit, but if he’s scoring goals for us, there will be other clubs interested as well. And maybe if he adds another seven or something, he could easily go back to the League. But we’ll certainly be having the conversation with Steve."

Andrejs Stolcers is another who Haylock will ask to stay.

The Latvian international stayed on the bench at Grays but the 35-year-old midfielder has a place if he wants it.

"Physically, Andrejs is in good shape," Haylock said. "Certain games don’t suit him, like the game at Grays, but we’ll still be having a chat with him."
