HAYES & Yeading’s defensive frailties resurfaced last night as they were thrashed at Sutton.

United have made promising start to life under the leadership of Tristan Lewis and Delroy Preddie but yesterday’s heavy defeat showed the problems at Kingfield will take more time to fix.

Lewis and Preddie chalked up two wins in their first two games at the helm, however the fight and spirit shown in those two victories was sorely lacking at the Borough Sports Ground.

It all started so well for Hayes & Yeading as they took an early lead in Surrey, in-form Kudus Oyenuga bagging another easy goal as he tapped home from close range after the Sutton keeper had flapped at a Daniel Wishart (pictured) cross.

But the smiles were short-lived. Three minutes later and Marvin Williams had pulled the hosts level before the forward grabbed a second soon after to put Sutton into the lead.

Hayes & Yeading were rattled and a third goal on the half-hour, headed in by Craig Dundas, was the decisive blow as the belief seemed to sap out of the visitors.

Simon Downer added a fourth after the interval and Dundas bagged his brace from the spot in the last 10 minutes to wrap up the points for Sutton.
