HAYES & Yeading brought high-flying Chelmsford City crashing back down to earth at Kingfield on Tuesday night.

City had gone 12 games unbeaten prior to this Blue Square South clash but saw their impressive run ended by Nas Bashir’s United.

It took just seven minutes for the hosts to unlock the Clarets defence as Wishart rounded Chelmsford keeper Stuart Searle and slotted home the opener.

The next goal was always going to prove crucial and United could not have picked a better time to score it as Kudus Oyenuga doubled the lead from the spot.

That goal came five minutes before the break and knocked the stuffing out of the visitors as both sides headed in for a well-earned breather.

City changed personnel and tactics midway through the second period in an attempt to salvage something but United still threatened through Oyenuga.

Bashir’s boys completed the job by adding a third on 70 minutes that had the Hayes & Yeading supporters in stitches in the stands.

Sam Corocoran slipped on the greasy Kingfield surface when delivering a free-kick, allowing Oyenuga and Luke Williams to set-up Yassin Moutaouakil (pictured) to blast home.

Hayes & Yeading: Hall, Moutaouakil, Spence, Cox (C), Butcher, Pele, Oyenuga (Anderson), Bentley (Goddard), Joseph (M Williams), L Williams, Wishart.

Subs (not used): Cadmore, Beasant.
