TONY O’Driscoll has revised his Christmas target for getting Hayes & Yeading’s Sharda Glass Community Stadium ready.

O’Driscoll is the new chairman at Beaconsfield Road following Derek Goodall’s decision to step  down from the role at the end of July.

When he took on the new role O'Driscoll outlined his plans for getting work re-started on the site and told supporters he hoped the club could move into the Sharda by December.

But he has since discovered an ongoing dispute with the builders which has seen work stop at the ground while it is resolved.

That has put the chairman’s plans behind schedule and O’Driscoll admits he cannot yet be certain when Hayes & Yeading will be able to fulfill fixtures at the ground.

O’Driscoll told the Gazette: “I haven’t said anything to anybody about not being back in there this season. What I said when I came in [as chairman] was that I thought we’d be back in there by Christmas, but there was a few things that I wasn’t aware of.

“It’s becoming clearer to me now and I don’t honestly see us being back in there by Christmas now. I very much thought that when I came on board that we’d be able to just start the work again but that’s not going to be the case.

“I honestly don’t know when they’re going to start [building] again. I can’t honestly say when we will be back in there. I’ve got an idea in my own mind about how long it will take but they have to start work first.”

O’Driscoll previously held the position of manager and director of football at Hayes & Yeading prior to taking on his new role as chairman.
