Hatch End Hawks 12

West London 8

HATCH End Hawks signed off in style as they stormed to victory in their final Premier League fixture of the campaign against rivals West London.

Hawks stormed to an early lead and never looked back as West London were swept aside in a comfortable 12-8 win to see Hatch End grab all five points.

Captain Elle Davis said: “This is the best we’ve played all season. Everyone came into it hungry for the win and it felt like our whole season came together in 60-minutes of solid hard graft from each and every Hawks player. We’re thrilled.”

Midfielder Tiffany Lake was instrumental in this triumph and controlled the play from the centre of the pitch, feeding Lara Owen and Carina Western on the wings to stretch the opposition.

Using the increased space to their advantage, Hawks pressed forward in the first 15 minutes and were lethal from set-plays and showed a sharp eye for goal to race into the lead.

West London battled back but were finding it difficult to breach a Hatch End defence that was well-marshalled by Emma Barlow and Alex Clifford.

Barlow and Clifford forced the visitors into several quick turnovers in possession and Alana Zukas, who top scored with five on the day, did the damage at the other end.

Zukas’ five, along with braces from Owen and Katie Bohane and further strikes from Western, Lake and Nicole Sawdaye, took the Hatch End total to 12 and saw them cruise home in the closing stages.

Hatch End Hawks are now looking forward to a series of summer lacrosse tournaments and a tour of Belgium before the next season starts in September.
