MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO

Swamibapa 64 all out

Wycombe House 66-3

Wycombe House won by nine wickets

MARVELLOUS Marvin Harris and five-star Vasi Shaikh combined to take Wycombe House top of the Division Two table on Saturday.

Skipper Alex Thamby won the toss and chose to bowl first, but the Swamibapa openers looked in confident mood and raced to 20 for no wicket from the first three overs.

It was looking like it might be a long day in the field for House, but opening bowlers Thamby and Shaikh had other ideas as they found their line and wickets began to fall.

Shaikh got rid of both openers and the floodgates opened, the score racing to 40-6.

Shaikh went on to claim his first ever five-wicket haul with figures of 5-34.

Left arm spinner Sohail Elahi then came on to clean up the tail with figures of 3-5 as Swamibapa were reduced to 64 all out.

The run chase should have been easy, but early wickets put the pressure right on until Harris stepped up and took responsibility with a classy 22 not out to guide House home.

Meanwhile, things are not looking so good for Old Isleworthians & Heston in Division Three, after they went down by five wickets to Tamil United.
