HANWELL remain rooted to the bottom of the table after missed chances cost them two precious points at home to Biggleswade.

This was an even game in terms of possession, but it was the home side who spurned enough clear chances to have won comfortably, with Blaise O'Brien the biggest culprit. Last year's leading scorer missed three second-half chances he would normally have gobbled up, to leave the Reynolds Field side two points adrift and still looking for their first win of the season ahead of next Tuesday's trip to fellow strugglers Harefield.

The hosts had begun positively and could have been in front after just five minutes. Chris Mills' through-ball sent Charlie Baverstock racing clear, but United keeper Adam Lawrence was quickly out to block the shot with his legs.

Emanuel Langlais then missed a similar chance for the visitors, but Hanwell remained on top and it was no surprise when they took the lead on 19 minutes.

O'Brien was the architect, playing a clever ball inside the full-back for Tashan Bradshaw. His first effort was again blocked by Lawrence, but Bradshaw was quick to follow up and slot the ball home. However, the lead was short-lived as minutes later Chris Francis raced to the by-line and pulled the ball back for Luke Lincoln to level from close range.

In the second half, play swung from end to end but again the better chances came the hosts' way.

Before Tuesday's trip to Harefield, Hanwell are back in FA Vase action tomorrow (Saturday), when they visit Bedford.
