HAMPTON & Richmond Borough will recall keeper Rodney Chiweshe (pictured) from his loan spell at Walton & Hersham following a recurrence of Matt Lovett's knee injury.

Lovett, who has made more than 300 appearances for Hampton, has been sidelined with injury since the summer, but had been recalled to add some experience to the struggling side.

But the move backfired when he was stretchered off in agony during Saturday's 3-3 home draw with Havant & Waterlooville.

Beavers boss Mark Harper said: “Matt is bitterly disappointed. He had an operation in the summer hoping to solve the issue with the knee, came back and trained really hard.

“He probably came back a couple of weeks earlier than I wanted him to, but I needed to make the change to get the experience back.

“Rodney Chiweshe is still our player, out on loan at Walton & Hersham, so I will pull him back during the week.”

In the event, Hampton had no keeper on the bench and had to put defender Billy Jeffries between the sticks for the last six minutes.
