GEORGIE Groves landed the British super-middleweight title following a majority decision in his grudge match with old Dale Youth rival James DeGale on Saturday.

The former sparring partners have been at each other's throats since Groves enjoyed a controversial points decision over DeGale in the ABAs when both were still amateurs at the North Kensington club.

Saturday's fight at the O2 Arena was just as close, and Hammersmith-born Groves once again came out on top, scoring a 115-114 win from two judges, while the third made it a draw.

It was a first professional defeat for DeGale, while Groves maintained his unbeaten record since turning pro.

The pair slugged it out right to the end, despite Groves suffering a wobble in the third round and a bad cut to his forehead in the 11 th .

But the decision was not without its controversy, and promoter Frank Warren had already called for a re-match, which Groves has already said he is up for too.
