WILL Grigg hopes he can go on a scoring spree after opening his Brentford account in Saturday's victory against Sheffield United.

The former Walsall frontman bagged a brace in the 3-1 win at Griffin Park, but was denied a hat-trick after George Long saved his late penalty.

“It's nice to get off the mark, but I'm a little bit disappointed not to get the hat-trick,” said Grigg, who smashed 20 goals last campaign.

“Hopefully I can go on and get some more straight away. My aim is to get to double figures as soon as possible and go from there. I'm feeling confident.”

Grigg, 22, was denied a dream home debut after Long dived to his left to keep out the striker's second-half spot-kick.

But the Birmingham-born hitman insists he's got no qualms about stepping up again.

“Missing the penalty was frustrating,” he added. “As soon as I hit it I thought it was in. The keeper pulled off a good save to be fair and the gaffer agreed.

“I took seven penalties last year and didn't miss. It was a good save and I'll certainly be putting my hand up for the next one.”
