LEWIS Grabban bagged the winner on his debut as Brentford edged out Leyton Orient.

The on-loan Millwall star grabbed the only goal of the game just before the break when he glanced home Marcus Bean's headed pass.

The first-half was a scrappy affair, with Sam Saunders missing a golden chance to give the Bees the lead when he headed Myles Weston's cross over from six yards, while at the other end, James Scowcroft glanced a header straight at Wojciech Szczesny.

But Grabban sent the hosts in in front at the interval when he flicked Marcus Bean's header over Jamie Jones off the far post.

Brentford had Szczesny to thank for keeping their lead intact after the break when he denied Adam Chambers from point-blank range, while Sean Thorton curled an effort wide.

Grabban came close to adding a second for the hosts, with only a fingertip save by Jones keeping out his effort after a fine solo run.

Orient pressed for an equaliser late on, but they didn't find it as Brentford held on for the points.
