The second Ealing Half Marathon, supported by the Gazette, takes place next month and there is still time to register and get the #EalingFeeling .

With an increased capacity of 6,000 runners the organisers have confirmed that places are still available for the 2013 race on Sunday,September 29 and are urging anyone wanting to be on the start line next month to sign up as soon as possible. Introduced in the Olympic year in order to bring a mass participation sporting event to the borough that would be a legacy to the Games, the Ealing Half Marathon is attracting runners of all levels from near and far, and organisers have got big plans for the future.

Companies and businesses can also still enter teams into the Corporate Challenge which is new for 2013 and takes place as part of the main race, whilst young runners aged six – 11 can sign up for the Ealing Mini Mile around Lammas Park.

Race Director Kelvin Walker said: “We had some great feedback from our inaugural race in 2012 and we look forward to delivering another fantastic event next month. Last year all 4,650 places sold out and we are on track to beat that number for 2013.

“The whole community is behind the Ealing Half Marathon and it will be great to showcase this again with lots of supporters cheering around the course and giving runners the #EalingFeeling . I would like to express a big thank you to everyone who has signed up and who is supporting the event.”The Ealing Half Marathon 2012 was also voted in the Top Ten UK Half Marathons by Runner’s World with the magazine quoting that ‘this new race was love at first sight for most runners’.

The Ealing Half Marathon starts and finishes in Lammas Park with the race, retail and charity village at its heart. The 13.1 mile single lap course takes in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park. Race entry costs £32 for affiliated runners and £34 for unaffiliated runners, and all finishers receive a distinctive medal and an online e-goody bag after the race.

Charity fundraising is a big part of the Ealing Half Marathon with Epilepsy Action the official charity for the 2013 race. Other associated charities include Tearfund, Cape, Ealing Samaritans, Ealing Centre for Independent Living, Imperial College Healthcare Charity, Shooting Star Chase, The Gabrielle Gray Foundation, Raise the Roof Kenya and St Mungo’s.
