GEORGIA Cotsford has successfully defended her ladies' singles title at Harrow Weald Lawn Tennis Club's finals day.

The 15-year-old won the first set 6-1 but her opponent, Laura Sherwood, fought back to go 5-0 up in the second set, eventually winning it 6-3.

The final set was tense but Cotsford eventually clinched the match with a 6-3 triumph.

In the men's singles 2007 champion Sami S'haba overcame the luckless Chetan Sennik, who was runner up for the third year running, 6-2, 6-4.

Cotsford was back on court for the ladies doubles final, partnering her mother Reena Dolden.

However, they came off second best to Jo Luff and Sharon Grout 6-7, 3-6.

Sennik and brother Alok took on last year's men's doubles runners up Chris Lynch and Greg Hovanessian in what proved to be the match of the day.

Lynch and Hovanessian took the first set 6-4 and looked set for victory at 5-3 in the second. However, the Sennik brothers fought back to secure it 5-7 before their opponents won the deciding set 9-7 as the heavens opened.

In the mixed doubles defending champions Laura Sherwood and Anthony Osborne overcame Cotsford and Darren Plank 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
