Northwood Town 134 all out Reed 135-6 Town lost by four wickets

NORTHWOOD Town suffered another defeat following a disappointing batting display at Reed on Saturday.

Opener Phil Costard and number three Brendan Heaney put in a decent 40-run partnership, however the dismissal Heaney started off a disastrous domino effect of middle order dismissals.

The away side fell from 70-2 to a worrying 80-7. Skipper Raj Ahluwalia, suffering with illness, steadied the ship with a respectable 28, however runs were few and far between as Northwood finished on just 134 all out.

It was a much better performance in the field from Town, with Richard Doling the stand-out bowler, taking three wickets.

However despite a slow start at the crease from the home side, Reed comfortably went on to secure victory for the loss of six wickets.

Town's second XI also suffered defeat in their away match against Cheshunt.

Alan Armitage put in a solid display by reaching an unbeaten 54, however reckless performances from his team-mates meant that Town were all-out for a mere 118.

Cheshunt only needed 20 overs to secure a comfortable victory for the home side.
