KUDUS Oyenuga struck a late winner to haul Hayes & Yeading out of the relegation zone with victory over Tonbridge Angels.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker found the net to complete a second-half turnaround at Kingfield and see United climb to 15th in the Blue Square South table.
There was a change in the dugout this week as Tony O'Driscoll handed in his resignation just 24 hours earlier and Tristan Lewis and Delroy Preddie took joint control.
Maidenhead's surprise win over Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday saw United fall into the drop zone to pile on the pressure.
Only goal difference separated these two sides heading into this relegation scrap, adding even more importance to the crunch fixture.
Mark Lovell should have opened the scoring for the visitors on two minutes as he was given far too much time in the penalty area but ballooned his effort over the bar.
Three minutes later and Tonbridge did take the lead, Frannie Collin allowed to dribble through to the edge of the box and finding the bottom corner with a scuffed shot.
It was a shambolic start for the hosts who then conceded again before the eighth minute as Henry Muggeridge sent a harmless looking ball across the face of the goal and Lovell tapped home.
Hayes & Yeading then managed to get the ball down the other end, however Danny Wishart's ambitious effort cleared both the crossbar and the roof of the stand.
Some good build-up play presented the home side with their second chance as Sam Corcoran turned his man and fed Oyenuga, who went close with a decent drive.
As the clock ticked past the half-hour mark United created another opening, Wishart's inviting ball failing to reach the onrushing Oyenuga and Corcoran and the hosts went in two down at the break.
Neither side made a change at the interval and Hayes & Yeading almost pulled one back within moments of the restart as Collins forced an excellent save from Lee Worgan.
At the other end, Angels were looking to put the result beyond any doubt and Ashley Miller wasted a glorious opportunity when put through one-on-one with Milan Stojsavljevic.
But then a piece of individual brilliance gave United hope as Corcoran found the far corner with a superb 25-yard free-kick to set up an exciting last 20 minutes at Kingfield.
Hayes & Yeading started to believe and they got themselves back on level terms moments later when Worgan was stranded in no-man's land and Collins looped one delicately into the net.
It was the striker's last involvement of the game as he was swapped for former Reading midfielder John Goddard.
And it proved a masterful change as Goddard ran clear and squared for Oyenuga to finally get his goal and clinch a vital victory for the home side with just six minutes to go.
