HARROW Borough new boy Danny Hart hopes helping the club’s play-off push can give him a way back into the pro game.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been without a club since leaving League Two Barnet in January, so he jumped at the chance to get back playing again and help out David Howell’s injury-hit Borough side, making his debut in Saturday’s win at Carshalton.

He admits not getting up and kicking a ball every day for the first time in his career has been a rude awakening, having spent the last six weeks working as a bathroom fitter with his step-dad. He is hoping life at Earlsmead will be a stepping stone back into the big time.

He said: "The last few weeks have been a real reality check, doing a regular job and then training in the evening, going home knackered and getting up at 7am to do it all over again.

"It’s not the life of luxury of a pro footballer where you go training and then go home early and put your feet up - it’s been a taste of the real world.

"But it’s great to be playing again and I want to play professionally again, so if I work hard perhaps Harrow can give me a lucky break.

Howell and his assistant, Ken Charlery, have already helped Albert Adomah (now with Bristol City) into the league and that gives Hart hope of better things.

He said: It is good to have Howellsey and Ken Charlery looking over you as they have a track record in progressing players."

For now Hart, like the rest of the Borough boys must turn his attention to Saturday’s crunch home game with fellow play-off hopefuls AFC Hornchurch.
