ANDY MURRAY ended the long wait for a British Wimbledon men’s champion – but the next winner might come around sooner if Harrow’s performance at the London Youth Games is anything to go by.

The Harrow team of Miren Shah, Aly Dewji, Justin Edwards, Eleanor Buckman and Justine Buckman saw the borough finish an excellent fourth out of 28 while Murray was on court down the road at the All England club.

Harrow beat Camden 3-0 before losing 2-1 to Bormley, leaving them to play for third place against Hackney.

It was a close-fought match, won by Hackney 2-1, with a tight mixed doubles set proving the difference between the two sides.

The fourth-place finish is all the more remarkable given Harrow, coached and led by former Nower Hill High School student Rishi Shah, failed to even qualify for the finals last year.

Team Harrow consisted of Nower Hill High School students ranging from year nine to year 12, as well as Pinner Moss Lane Tennis Club players, where they are coached by LTA Middlesex Coach of the Year Nigel Buckman.
