HAYES & Yeading's star striker, Elliott Buchanan, has admitted he is looking for a move elsewhere after his superb debut season in the Blue Square Premier.
The 21-year-old, who played a crucial part in keeping Garry Haylock's men up last season with 15 goals in all competitions, is attracting interest from elsewhere and he will consider his options in the coming weeks.
“I have heard that that there has been a few clubs interested in me,” Buchanan admitted. “But there has been nothing concrete and I still need to meet up with my agent.
“I am not sure (if I will stay) – I am keeping my options open. I have had a good season and if I can move somewhere and play at a higher level then I would be grateful to make that step. I would not rule out staying though.”
Buchanan's rise during has capped an impressive rise up the ladder for him as he was playing Southern League football with Slough Town just last season.
That came after his career nosedived with Stevenage Borough when he played just one game at Conference level.
Buchanan is therefore grateful for the platform that Hayes & Yeading have provided in reigniting his career, but he was always confident that he could make the step-up.
“I had a difficult start to the season, but I turned over a new leaf in the New Year and started to score goals. I am not sure why that was, I think it was maybe because I got a chance to play consistently in the first-team. With most teams that I have played for, that has been the case. I always fancy myself to score a few goals and had faith that I could start scoring at this level.”
