NEW signing Yassin Moutaouakil says he is determined to repay Hayes and Yeading for showing faith in him after several clubs turned him down.

Blue Square Premier rivals Braintree Town were the latest club to reject the services of a player who once cost £400,000 when Charlton Athletic brought the right-back in from France.

Since having his contract terminated at the Addicks in June, 2010, the former France U21 international has had unsuccessful trials at Swansea City, Oldham and back at Charlton.

But after failing to secure a deal at Alan Devonshire’s Braintree, he was offered a chance by Hayes and Yeading to reignite his career.

Boss Nas Bashir had to wait eight weeks to gain international clearance for Moutaouakil, but the move was all down to his ex-Charlton Athletic team-mate Dean Sinclair, who was released by Hayes and Yeading last month.

“The reason I am here is because of my friend Dean,” said Moutaouakil. “He was playing here at Hayes and told me they needed a right back and he phoned the manager, who told him to bring me in. I came in and have been training for weeks with the team before signing.

“I had been struggling for over a year to find a club until I came here,” he said. “I terminated my contract with Charlton because Phil Parkinson didn’t want to play me anymore. I haven’t been playing any football at all really.

“I had a trial with Swansea when I terminated my contract in June 2010 but it didn’t work out and the same thing happened at Oldham in January. I was at Braintree before I came to Hayes and played a couple of games for the reserves, but I didn’t sign for the first team.”

And the 25-year-old believes he can play his part in moving his new club away from the relegation zone.

“I am here to play first for the club and put them in the right position,” he added. “The individual ambitions are secondary. You need to do well for the team and who knows, maybe some scout will see and you can move.

“I’m trying to get my fitness back, but it will only come with playing more games. I haven’t been promised games though so I am going to have to fight for my place. We need to stick together when we’re in a bad position. When you’re in a bad time is when you see the real team.”
