JAKE Bidwell has backed new loan signing Saido Berahino to be a hit at Brentford.

The Bees completed the capture of the West Brom striker on Thursday after he finished his spell at League Two Northampton Town.

The 18-year-old scored six goals in 15 appearances for the Cobblers, but the Baggies are keen for the England U20 international to test himself at a higher level.

However, on-loan Everton defender Bidwell, who played with Berahino for the national side, insists his pal will have no problem making the step up.

He said: “I've played with him for England and I think he will be a great addition to the squad.

“He's a clever player with decent pace. He's strong as well, but he's not just a brute he's a very good footballer.

“Saido's had a spell at Northampton and done very well, and I don't think he will have a problem in League One.”

Berahino is expected to go straight into the squad for tomorrow night's trip to Colchester.
