EVERTON defender Jake Bidwell wants to extend his stay at Brentford.

The young left-back has made an impressive start to his one-month loan at Griffin Park , playing three games and bagging the man of the match award in the home win against Hartlepool a fortnight ago.

However, the 18-year-old is due to return to Goodison Park after the trip to Tranmere at the beginning of January.

But Bidwell has given the green light to extend his loan in west London.

He said: “I've settled in well. There's a few things I've had to get used to that we do differently here than at Everton.

“But now I've done that it's great to be getting games regularly. I would definitely stay here longer if I could but that's not down to me.

“Everton have let me come down for a month, so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't want to extend the deal if it's making me a better player.

“I want to see as much of the city as I can when I get some time to myself or a few days off. It's hard being away from home at times but it's a sacrifice worth making when you're out there playing.”

Bidwell admits he wants to follow in the footsteps of Toffees first-teamer Leighton Baines , who has forced his way into Fabio Capello's England plans.

“I look up to Leighton,” he added. “He's a great player, and I think he's been unlucky not to play more regularly for England.

“He's a great pro around the club and I try to get forward like him as much as I can.”
