ISLEWORTH athlete Emily Barrett ran through the pain barrier to win some vital points for Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow AC on Saturday.

Barrett was nursing a tight hamstring, but took part in her 400m hurdles race anyway to ensure WSEH women got a few more marks, and her efforts proved worthy.

Her club won their penultimate UK Women’s National League Premier Division clash in Manchester by just 11 points from host club Trafford.

The win put WSEH in close contention for the league trophy, as well as the resulting qualification for the 2014 European Clubs Cup, going into the final game.

Over at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre, WSEH’s men finished a disappointing sixth in their penultimate British Athletics League Division One fixture, while in Winchester, the WSEH youngsters came third in their Alder Valley Boys League fixture.

Meanwhile, Gunnersbury Olympian Amber Simukonda helped Thames Valley Harriers to second in the 100m relay and third in the 400m relay, as well as notching third place in the 400 hurdles B, in their UK Women’s National League Division One clash at Wigan.

TVH won on the day and stayed top of the table, looking a good bet for promotion to the Premier for the first time.
