SUPER-sub Farid El Alagui grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser to maintain Brentford's unbeaten start to the campaign at Gillingham.

The former Falkirk frontman bundled the ball home in the dying seconds to cancel out Bayo Akinfenwa's first-half opener as honours ended even at Priestfield.

Uwe Rosler made one change from the side that beat Sheffield United last weekend, with Toumani Diagouraga replacing Conor McAleny.

The Bees made the better of the opening stages in blustery conditions, with Harlee Dean heading straight at Stuart Nelson.

Diagouraga wasted a good chance moments later when he was picked out at the edge of the box by Shaleum Logan, but blazed his effort over.

Brentford were forced into an early change when Jake Bidwell was forced off through injury, with Javi Venta coming on at right-back and Logan switching to the left.

The Bees had a scare midway through the half when Charlie Lee fired just over from 20 yards out, while at the other end, Diagouraga flashed a shot just wide.

Clayton Donaldson had the ball in the net on 40 minutes when he headed Alan McCormack's cross in from close range, only to see his effort chalked off by the linesman's flag.

And the Gills raced up the other end to break the deadlock with their first shot on target.

Former Bee Myles Weston delivered a deep cross, which was headed back across goal by Danny Kedwell for Akinfenwa to fire into the bottom corner, despite David Button's right hand.

Tony Craig headed over at the other end as Bees searched for an instant response before the half-time interval.

Brentford continued to press forward after the break, with Adam Forshaw's 25-yard effort cannoning off the outside of the post.

However, they had Button to thank for keeping them in the game on the hour mark when he kept out Weston's thumping drive.

Rosler threw on El Alagui with 15 minutes to go as the visitors tried desperately to rescue a point.

Donaldson went close late on when his deflected shot hit the post, but they finally rescued a draw in the fourth minute of added time.

Forshaw's free-kick was nodded back across goal by Dean for El Alagui to slam into the roof of the net.
