TOMMY Edwards scored the goal which secured British Airways the Premier Division title in their debut season in the Middlesex County League on Saturday.

Edwards' strike earned a 1-1 draw at Sporting Hackney which means BA now cannot be caught by title rivals FC Romania or Interwood.

Unfortunately, BA won't be able to test themselves at a higher level next season as their Concorde Club ground in Cranford is not up to scratch, but secretary John Duggan hopes that will be put right for next season.

“We've got to have some meetings about it,” he said. “We've got to get British Airways on board as we're giving the company name some real prestige.

“But it has been a tremendous feat by the boys, winning the title in our first season since coming over from the London Commercial League.”
