LUKE Dorn reckons Tony Rea could be persuaded to stay on at London Broncos – if they can keep their current form up.

Former head coach Rea returned for a second spell at the Stoop side last month after Rob Powell was relieved of his duties, with Broncos bottom of the Super League.

Although Rea's second reign started with three defeats on the spin, there were signs of improvement, and Broncos have now beaten Salford and Castleford in successive games.

Despite this, Rea has stated he is only back for the interim and will return to his businesses in his native Australia once the season finishes.

However, Dorn believes his fellow Aussie can still be tempted to stay put and finish what he has started.

He said: “Tony has made a short term decision and said it's not his intention to stay, but you can never say never. Things may change if we keep performing well and he gets a taste for it again, but it depends on his family too.

“We knew what we were going to get with Tony, and it's been good having him back. He's a great man-manager with a real passion about the team and how he wants them to play.

“He's just been subtle in trying to change a few things rather than make sweeping changes. There not been a lot of different in what we do, but the whole team is working hard and he has instilled some confidence.”

Rea's return was like a double deja-vu for Dorn. Like Rea, he is in his second spell at the club, and played under him during his first spell too.

Under Powell, the 30 year old stand-off had been consigned to the reserves, but he showed the fans what they had been missing with four tries in the hammering of Castleford.

He added: “It does feel a bit strange at times with Tony walking around here again a few years down the line.

“Sometimes people don't respond to a certain thing or person, an then how many times have you seen a team change their coach and perform well?

“It's up to the older guys too, and we have some great ones like Craig Gower, Chris Bailey, Chad Randall and Michael Robinson who have done everything there is to do in the game – and when they speak, you listen.”

Meanwhile, David Howell made his 100 th Broncos appearance against Castleford, in a win which saw his side move off the bottom of the table. They host Warrington Wolves tonight (8pm).
