AFC Wimbledon have been told they must wait until the end of the month before finding out whether they can take Emmanuel Oyeleke on loan.
The Dons have contacted Brentford about bringing the highly-rated youngster to Kingsmeadow.
However, the Bees want versatile Oyeleke, who can play in defence or midfield, to spend pre-season with them before making a decision on his future.
Boss Uwe Rosler said: “When we think there's not enough room for our younger players we will definitely consider loaning them out.
“Manny's not 100 per cent fit at the moment, and players who aren't fully-fit won't go out on loan.
“He will get playing time in pre-season and then we'll make a decision.”
