AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown hopes to get a decision from some of his targets in the next 48 hours.

The Dons boss wants two new centre-halves and a left-back as he bids to bolster his backline for the forthcoming campaign.

Experienced defender Gary Doherty , Rotherham's Ryan Cresswell and former Brentford full-back Sam Wood are believed to be among those on Brown's radar.

And the Kingsmeadow chief is hopeful of wrapping up at least one more signing before the players return for pre-season training next week.

He said: “We're hoping to find out in the next couple of days about decisions from a centre-back and a left-back.

“We have been chasing two centre-halves and we're hoping to speak to one, if not both, of them later today.

“I would like to have one of them in by the time we begin pre-season training.”

Left-back Wood is also wanted by Wycombe Wanderers, but Brown will wait until he secures a centre-half before making a final decision on the rest of his defence.

He added: “If we get an experienced centre-back in then I could have a young left-back.

“But if we go with two younger lads alongside Mat Mitchel-King then I want some experience elsewhere in my defence.”
